GITTI | Unboxing Experience
Gitti is the innovator in the nail polish industry, that focuses on sustainable, vegan, cruelty free and water based nail polish and challenging the existing products on the market. gitti is constantly aiming to revolutionize the beauty industry by creating new conscious products for the end consumer.
One of gitti’s core values is to take care of the planet by using sustainable formulas and materials, which is represented in their current packaging as well. So far, gitti has switched from plastic envelopes to 100% recycled paper envelopes, is using recycled paper for the flyers and stickers, carrying the nail polishes.

Whithin a competition gitti wanted to explore sustainable, but also innovative and attractive packaging options.

The task was to design an entire unboxing experience from getting it in the post box to unpacking the products. And here comes the twist:
What can the next generation of gitti packaging look like? How can we combine sustainable materials with a sleek, instagrammable look and feel?

Concept 01
"Pebbles - Formed by nature,
shaped by water."
I built on the Pebble idea because I wanted to create something that nurtures gittis brand core.
Form | Pebbles – formed by nature, shaped by water
Material | White or light grey pulp mold that comes e.g. from 100% recycled paper.
(can be really light and fine, not like odd egg carton, is also printable)
By adding a banderole we could send the box straight to the client. The banderole is collecting all the information the client need on back. Even the postcard is integrated (tear off).

On the Banderole we also play with an qr code, so the consumer can get more information about the production eg
Besides this, the new box nurtures a beautiful and harmonious feeling that spreads to every room you take your reusable pack.
CONCEPT 02
"THE BAR"
Coming from the Connection of the three Logo Elements, I created a pack that visualizes and transformed this idea into a bar shaped Box (also relates to the water mark on nail polishes).
Form | We see a slim box that contains at least three essential items (for sketch I used the biggest currently).
The idea is here, to created the smallest box that could possibly work for at least three essentials, every consumer wants to have always with him, through the day…in his bag, purse etc.
We should try to make the box as small as possible, but as big as necessary to have space for at least three daily essentials. For the overall Design we are using the corporate elements and adding uniqueness through embossing and QR code activation.Large Box | If the order is bigger, you add a second box (like a tool box system).

The idea is, that they could be different in color. (Maybe) chosen by the consumer online. This idea spreads the positivity that gitti is sharing. A banderole holds it all together, sharing all information inside (back of it).
Material | Recycled Paper, recycled and sustainable rubber band
Additional
For the box top cover we are using the nail color system. Would be great to let the consumer decide to create an additional feeling of personality and co-creation. But thats just an idea, we could also use the normal CI colors.
CONCEPT 03
"NATURAL SIMPLICITY"

This reduced box nurtures the simplicity of gitti. Natural materials, clear shape, strong message.
Form | The elastic rubber band holds the reusable pulp mold box together. The products are attached on thicker holed carton by using a second rubber band. The attaching is flexible and adds a lovely fun aspect.
Material | 1. White or light grey pulp mold that comes eg from 100% recycled paper. (can be really light and fine, not like odd egg carton, is also printable) 2. Biodegradable rubber band (gitti colors)
Small Envelope | In this option we use compostable plastic. The Plastic is made from plants and 100% compostable.
For the inlay we have the same banderole system that comes with the box. As the envelope is really flexible, we add a layer of corrugated cardboard underneath the banderole to have 100% security.
Large Box | The large box is just deeper, so we can pack two layers of the product carton. The Banderole would be longer here.
The charts also visualizes the holed carton application of the products. By using a second rubber band the products are secured. The flexible application adds a lovely fun factor too.
Banderole | On front we have the shipping label. The gitti story is played all around the pack and creating a space for all necessary information and beyond (Qr code). The pulp mold material is really stable, so everything is safe while shipping.
